Authorgraph is a free program for digital book signing for both readers and writers. It was formerly known as Kindlegraph–since now it’s not just for the kindle and for all ereaders, it is now known as Authorgraph. This free platform is an amazing opportunity for everyone–it connects readers and writers and readers can receive signed digital covers of their favorite books.
User friendly? Yes definitely! It’s super easy to sign up as a reader or an author.
Furthermore this program is always improving. Evan, the founder, stays in contact with the program’s users and uses their feedback to make the program friendly for everyone.
Signup
To signup click on the Sign In in the top right (at the time of this writing). You can choose whether to sign up with a username and password or a Twitter account. That’s it. Super easy. It’s the same for everybody.
Readers are ready to go to begin looking for books to add to their collection. Authors are now ready to set up their panel.
To add a book you simply add the ASIN of the book, and it can be Kindle, Hardcover, or Paperback. The book is now added to the catalog for readers to click on, and the book is added to your author page.
Features
Beside your profile you have a drop down menu to manage your collections, account, Author Tools, Author Page, and Kindlegraph requests.
When managing your requests, you can personalize the authorgraphs as they come, use a script, or draw your signature with a tablet or mouse. It’s up to you.
Under author tools you have access to the website/blog widget. This year they added the wordpress.com friendly version. This blog is a wordpress.com blog, and my other site is wordpress.org (yes there is a difference and a topic for a later time). They look and function the same way, but WP.com blogs are just special in that they have to have their own set of code to work. If anyone tried to implement the widget in the past on a WP.com blog you know what I am talking about. You can see it in the sidebar at the right. Visitors to your blog can click on the widget and it takes them to your author page where they can request authorgraphs of your book(s). In this panel you can choose which book is visible in the widget. At the present time, if you have more than one book, you can only display one, but all of your books are on your page. Evan is currently working on the widget where it can cycle through all of your books on the widget by popular demand. Again, this is on the horizon and currently a WIP at the time of this writing.
At the time of this writing I have three books, and all of them are on this site.
To Insert Widget:
- Access the codes in your Author Tools Panel.
- Copy the code. For any other type of side use the Non-Wordpress.com code, and a WordPress.com site use that code.
- Use a Text or HTML widget and place it where you want it.
- Paste the code.
- Save
Of course on any of your pages you can add a direct link to your author page in addition to your widget. Also use this if you want to use an image widget instead.
Opportunities for Everyone
This free program offers virtual book signing for everyone. Book blogger and tour hosts can offer virtual book signings for readers and for authors to host book signings on their website or blog. Either way it works out well for everyone!
More opportunities are around the bend, so who knows what could come about next?
