Fotojet is an image creator and editing app that could also be another free/cheaper alternative to Adobe Photoshop. It is one of several that I have been privileged to try out.

This review will be a bit short and sweet since Fotojet comes with a lot of the same features that most other image editors and creators employ, so I am not going to beat a dead horse going over them (predesigned dimenions, stickers, fonts, etc). There are a lot of great things that I really liked about FotoJet, but there was one nuance that bugged me so much that I sadly had to deduct a star since I felt so strongly about it. But since I am going to be honest in my review as always, let’s explore the good and the bad shall we?

The Good

Now let’s good the good first since I don’t like to talk about the bad at the beginning. There is really a lot to like about FotoJet! There are a lot of cool features and they have recently rolled out a more interactive and HTML 5 version that is even better than the last. Some of the templates are better than they were previously, but they still aren’t that much to write home about compared to some other platforms I have tried on things, especially Facebook ads, even for the premium ones.

There are a lot of really cool fonts, especially for the premium. Now, the assortment of clipart is where it really shines. The ability to make a collage is really awesome too.

The pricing is right on point with others that I have been able to try. You can pay $4.99 a month or save some by paying annually which is $34.99, which is a reasonable amount especially if you edit or design a lot and don’t want to pay out the butt for Photoshop.

The Bad

Okay, the bad. This one nuance is what may affect some others’ decisions or may feel the same way, and for others it may not be an issue at all. We all know that the free doesn’t have access to all the fonts, photo, templates, clipart, etc, so this is not where I have my complaint. My complaint is that you have to have the premium account to save your project in your online account. Why, pray tell, do this when a lot of competing sites like Canva and Picmonkey allow you to save your project in your account online at the free level?

Now don’t get me wrong. You can download your completed or partially completed project to your computer, but as soon as you leave the site or want to finish or edit it later you would  have to reupload it again? It’s not a huge, huge deal. For busy folks, this convenience issue could play a part in their decision making.

But there is always a work around. It is definitely something that should be brought up for consideration nonetheless.

All and all, I would recommend Fotojet for consideration despite the one flaw. The free version is definitely in for my toolkit.
